This sound piece for Radio explores the Tees estuary - it's living beings and geography - and highlights the current mass marine die-offs, most likely caused by deep dredging to build a new freeport.

Untold Stories was commissioned by East Durham Creates through an open call. The Auxiliary Project Space proposed ‘From the Campfire to the Hearth’ and invited Nell alongside several other artist-facilitators to collaborate.

Sonic Allotments at SAW21
I presented the Sonic Allotments sound pieces as an outdoor installation in the centre of Middlesbrough that the general public could encounter during Sonic Arts Week, July 2022.
Sound Field, Cheeseburn
The idea of the gong (tam tam) emerged from this first impression but was both a visual and sonic response to the building and its setting in this fenced field, up from the river. Together, they are both architecture/sculpture and instrument.
Sonic Allotments
Sonic Allotments is a series of sound pieces made with people in Teesside and the particular places outdoors that they regularly visit. Carefully curated assemblages of conversation, gardening, working and music-making tell the intimate sonic stories of community, being in nature and emerging from lockdown in the Tees Valley.
Old Yew, Cheeseburn
‘Old Yew’ was a durational event which the audience encountered as they followed a route around the large outdoor sculpture park. This event took my practice back into the ephemeral context of the landscape, shared for the first time with the audience who were also free to come and go in their own time.
